Edmund Lin is Bain & Company’s Chairman for Southeast Asia.  He has previously served as Bain’s Global Head of Financial Services and advises the world’s leading financial institutions on their most critical business issues.

Ed joined Bain in San Francisco in 1991 and relocated to Singapore in 1994 to help found Bain’s Southeast Asia practice.

Outside of Bain, Ed serves on the Board of Trustees for Singapore Management University (SMU), where he also chairs the Finance and Remuneration Committee. He is Chairman of the SMU College of Integrative Studies Advisory Board and formerly chaired the Advisory Board for the SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business. He also chairs the Scientific Advisory Committee for MIT’s SMART Mens, Manus and Machina (M3S) research group, which explores the intersection of technology design, human skill development, and societal adoption in the age of AI, automation, and robotics.

In addition, Ed is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and leads the Lin Foundation with his wife, Trina Liang-Lin.

He holds an MBA, with distinction, Beta Gamma Sigma, from Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
