WHAT IS PUBLIC RELATIONS AT BAIN: 

Global PR builds and protects Bain & Company’s reputation by promoting its intellectual property, strategic partnerships, and world-class talent. It positions Bain as a premium firm trusted to advise executives on businesses' most critical challenges and ensures a strong and credible presence across global media.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM:

  • You'll provide comprehensive tactical and operational support to Global Public Relations team 
  • Assist in planning and execution of PR campaign project plans
  • Collaborate with cross-functional marketing teams to support firm-wide campaigns and engage key internal and external stakeholders

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Media relations

  • Maintain Bain’s core media lists and build campaign-specific media lists, using Bain’s media data base, in close coordination with the Frontline PR team
  • Schedule and track media trainings and interviews for Bain partners, scheduling multiple trainings and interviews per week
  • Prepare media backgrounders for interview preparation, researching and assessing previous coverage for opportunities and flagging potential risk
  • Evaluate inbound media opportunities and help determine Bain’s participation in podcasts, online features, and broadcast segments
  • Draft and distribute press releases and media pitches
  • Suggest social media posts to promote articles that mention Bain 

 

 

Campaign planning & file management

  • Manage the PR Team calendar, coordinating closely with Bain’s Practice Marketers to ensure PR is tracking all upcoming campaigns, staying on top of media and analyst editorial calendars, and keeping track of upcoming earnings announcements and cultural holidays
  • Organize PR Team campaign files and communications within Bain’s internal content management system, ensuring PR plans, results and assets are included in relevant records
  • Maintain PR Team’s central file repositories to allow for seamless coordination between the PR Team and with Market Reputation colleagues

 

Manage PR Assets on bain.com

  • Coordinate the publication of all press releases, including posting them on Bain.com and distributing via newswires
  • Curate and maintain Bain.com’s “in the news” section, ensuring timely posting and accurate tagging to relevant partner profiles

 

Media monitoring

  • Track and circulate daily media coverage, formatting and sharing key mentions internally and drafting social media blurbs for amplification
  • Monitor Bain’s social media channels during East Coast business hours to flag engagement opportunities or issues

Team administration

  • Prepare, format, and edit internal and external slide presentations for the PR team and leadership
  • Manage invoice processing and vendor coordination for Bain’s PR partners

 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required
  • 1-3 years of experience working in the public relations and with journalists
  • Willingness to work across multiple time zones and occasionally coordinate projects outside of normal business hours with Asia and Europe  
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required as is the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills 
  • Agency experience preferable, but not required 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and deal with high volume requests during PR campaign launches and events/media tours
  • Hands on, results-oriented individual who wants to be part of a dynamic team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
