He has more than 15 years of consulting experience across retail and aviation sectors within both Europe and the Middle East.
In his retail work, Mauro has worked to resolve numerous strategic and operational issues for both food and non-food retail clients. He has extensive experience across a wide array of sectors, including grocery, food and beverage, core and non-core travel, consumer electronics, books, music, apparel and furniture.
He has led projects across all key retail areas, generating significant differentiating bottom-line results for retailers throughout EMEA. His focus areas include growth strategy, network optimization, like-for-like sales growth, store-specific optimization, category management, supplier negotiations, HQ organization and processes.
He holds significant expertise in store process redesign and labor cost transformation.
Within the aviation space, Mauro holds deep knowledge of all key topics within the passenger and cargo airlines spaces, including strategic planning, network growth and redesign, revenue management, ops optimization, fleet evaluation and selection, MRO development and operational optimization. He has particularly deep knowledge of airport management companies and handling operators, primarily regarding strategic and space planning, tenders and operational optimization, business development and pricing, as well as non-aviation, retail, real estate and aviation development. He is additionally well versed in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and joint ventures (JVs).
He has completed numerous due diligences on different players in the aviation value chain.
As the vice president of strategy and business development for a major European airline, Mauro was also responsible for coordinating a major cost transformation, selecting and negotiating fleet and MRO contracts and maintaining relationships with both national and international aviation governance bodies.
Mauro holds a master's degree in international finance and economics from Brandeis University, as well as a degree in economics from Bocconi University. He is fluent in both Italian and English and also has a basic working knowledge of French.
