Bain & Company appoints Manny Maceda as Chair as Orit Gadiesh takes role of Chair Emeritus

BOSTONFebruary 13, 2025—Bain & Company, one of the world’s leading management consulting firms, today welcomes Manny Maceda as the new Chair of the firm. He succeeds Orit Gadiesh, who becomes Bain’s Chair Emeritus, having served in the role of Chair for the previous three decades.

Maceda was previously Bain’s Worldwide Managing Partner and CEO from 2018 until June 30, 2024, when he was succeeded by Christophe De Vusser.

“I’m delighted Manny is taking the role of Bain’s Chair and that we will continue to collaborate closely in shaping the firm’s future,” De Vusser said. “Under Manny’s leadership, Bain saw an extended run of double-digit growth and rapid development of the range and scale of its capabilities in serving our clients. I’m looking forward to partnering with Manny as we work together on the next chapters of our firm’s success story.”

During Maceda’s tenure as Bain’s Worldwide Managing Partner, the firm saw a period of accelerated expansion and investment, doubling in size and launching new capabilities in technology and AI. Alongside, Maceda fostered and reinforced Bain’s unique, collaborative culture, helping it to secure numerous accolades as one of the world’s best places to work, a position it continues to hold today. Maceda’s role in building Bain’s culture was recognized last year by Glassdoor naming the firm as number one in its ranking of the 10 Best-Led US Companies. In January, Bain was again placed number one in Glassdoor’s 17th annual ranking of the Best Places to Work for 2025, marking a record seventh time the firm has topped this league.

Under Maceda’s leadership, a key to Bain’s success was development of its global leadership position in enabling companies to secure maximum value from digital and technology transformations. The firm has now advised on more than 9,500 digital projects across industries and geographies, providing world-class capabilities in AI, advanced analytics and data science; business, product and experience innovation; automation; enterprise technology; and software engineering.

Bain now employs more than 1,500 in-house experts in its digital teams. The firm continues to expand its more than 700 ecosystem partners, providing clients with access to new and emerging AI capabilities. Bain has made 25 successful acquisitions or minority investments since 2018, as well as establishing extensive strategic partnerships.

In addition to driving the firm’s fast-paced evolution, Maceda’s time as Bain’s Managing Partner saw a greater focus on sustainability and social impact, where he accelerated a 10-year commitment to invest more than $1.1 billion in pro bono consulting work – a commitment Bain fulfilled at the end of 2024.

Maceda said: “It was a privilege to lead Bain in my time as Managing Partner. I’m immensely proud of the client successes and results our firm and our teams secured through that period, including in some challenging periods of uncertainty. I’m energized by the exciting future for Bain, and I’m looking forward as Chair to supporting Christophe and our extraordinary people worldwide in delivering still more inspiring success stories with our clients.”

Orit Gadiesh appointed Chair Emeritus

Orit Gadiesh, who became Bain’s Chair in 1993, is acknowledged worldwide as among the foremost experts on management and corporate strategy, and her stature as a global business leader has been recognized by multiple inclusions in Forbes’ annual rankings of ‘The World’s Most Powerful Women’.

As Chair, and over more than four decades of service, Gadiesh has played an instrumental role in Bain’s global growth and development. She was the first woman to hold a firm-wide global leadership position, and today becomes Chair Emeritus, following Maceda’s appointment. Gadiesh was also the first woman consultant at Bain, and her appointment as Chair made her the first female chairman in the global consulting industry. Throughout her tenure, she has also played a central role in shaping the firm’s enduring culture and values, which have helped to steer the work of generations of Bain partners and consultant teams in meeting and exceeding the needs of clients around the world.

Christophe De Vusser said: “It’s a privilege to recognize the lasting impact Orit has had at Bain, as a guiding force for our firm. Orit defined our mission: to help our clients create such high levels of value that, together, we set new standards of excellence. She charted Bain’s ‘True North’ values, which shape all that we do as a firm, anchoring our commitments to our clients: to results not reports, and to defining the future, not hiding from it. Orit has been our compass. I’m delighted that her leadership will continue to play an important part in our future as she represents Bain in key global forums and across a global network of CEOs.”

Alongside her distinguished contributions to Bain’s success story, Gadiesh has continued to advise top managements of the world’s leading companies, across a wide array of industries. She has worked with hundreds of CEOs and senior executives on their strategy development and the implementation of successful transformations of their businesses and operations.

Gadiesh is a member of the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, where she has and continues to chair various committees. She is a member of the Community of Chairpersons of the WEF. As well as being a member of the MIT Corporation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she is also a member of its Executive Committee. She serves as a member of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai (IBLAC), having chaired the body for three years. She also volunteers her experience to other global business, civic and academic communities and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; the International Advisory Council of the James Martin 21st Century School at the University of Oxford; and the Advisory Council of the Peres Institute for Peace & Innovation. She also serves as a Governor of Tel Aviv University.

Gadiesh has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Schindler AG and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of WPP plc (2004-2014) and of the Supervisory Board of Royal Dutch Philips (2014-2021).  She graduated from Hebrew University, Jerusalem (BA, summa cum laude), and Harvard Business School (MBA, with highest honors), where she was a Baker Scholar and a recipient of the Brown prize for marketing.

In addition to his new role as Chair at Bain, Maceda is a member of the Board of Directors of Bridgespan, of the MIT Sloan School of Management’s North American Advisory Board, and of the Advisory Board of OneTen, a non-profit coalition of prominent business leaders working to advance economic mobility. He is also a founding partner of The Asian-American Foundation. Maceda holds an MS in Management from MIT Sloan, a BS in Chemical Engineering magna cum laude from Illinois Institute of Technology, and an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from De La Salle University in the Philippines.
