Dry Powder: The Private Equity Podcast
How can investors gain a foothold, even as the ground shifts beneath their feet?
On the previous episode of Dry Powder, Nirad Jain and Kara Murphy, the coleaders of Bain’s Healthcare Private Equity team, described how the Covid-19 pandemic is shaking patient care down to its foundations.
On today’s show, we’ll consider how investors can quickly regain their footing.
“Investors remain incredibly bullish,” Kara explained to me in part two of our interview series on the healthcare sector. “We don’t think that’s going to change.”
What has changed, though, is the competition for scarce assets.
“We’ve seen a tremendous amount of interest over the last couple of months in healthcare, even beyond what we had seen in the baseline over the last several years,” Nirad says. “I’d say if there’s a limiter right now in the market, it is there are not enough properties coming to market and being available for sale.”
Today on the show, we’ll consider how healthcare investors can move quickly, but not hastily, into a thoroughly scrutinized sector of the economy.
In our podcast series, Bain's Hugh MacArthur interviews leading experts on the trends and opportunities that will redefine the private equity industry.
