WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

Serve as the primary U.S. immigration point of contact for foreign nationals within our practice and assist with all essential immigration procedures  Work closely with the US Immigration team, internal HR teams, and external immigration counsel.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Act as a point person for foreign nationals and answer ongoing questions regarding travel, visa status, sponsorship requirements, implications of job changes, etc.
  • Review all applications and filings (both immigrant and nonimmigrant) for accuracy. Verify data, sign petitions, and prepare all other paperwork as necessary. Follow up on all immigration issues and required paperwork with employees and outside counsel.  
  • Address inquiries and concerns from foreign nationals and internal stakeholders, providing guidance and resolution as needed.
  • Anticipate immigration issues and propose an action plan to minimize the impact on work authorization continuity.
  • Counsel recruiting staff regarding candidate work eligibility and initiate the filing process for those hired. Offer strategic advice for onboarding employees with work authorization issues. Provide guidance to ensure a smooth transition. As issues arise, reach out to the appropriate parties with a proposed action plan and available options. Parties may include outside counsel, recruiting staff, local program managers, or local HR Managers.
  • Run permanent residence sponsorship process (green card) for eligible foreign nationals. Track eligibility, review with HR, and discuss with employees. Own multi-year process from start to finish.
  • Administer the PERM-based permanent residency program, ensure deadlines are met and processes are completed in a timely manner Update job descriptions, post recruitment, work with the recruiting team to review resumes and interview potentially qualified candidates, and create recruitment reports. Act as a liaison with the external immigration council throughout the immigration process to collect and communicate all necessary information for each unique case and situation. 
  • Lead presentations/information sessions for foreign nationals on timely immigration topics. 
  • Create and maintain Public Access Files and PERM recruitment files.
  • Maintain immigration SharePoint site; creating new content and updating outdated information.
  • Provide background information and data to leadership to help formulate immigration policies and practices.
  • Team with payroll to ensure proper tax reporting withholding in payroll system, explaining immigration status changes as required.
  • Ensure all visa information is updated and accurate in our HCM system.  
  • Track all information for metrics and reporting as necessary. 
  • Other duties as required.


ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing and submitting nonimmigrant visa petitions (specifically, H-1B, L-1, TN and E-3) and green card applications 
  • Working knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations
  • Experience managing permanent residence processes 
  • Knowledge of F-1 student visas and Optional Practical Training
  • Meticulous attention to detail necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams 
  • Highly motivated; self-starter and ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and deal with highly confidential information
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required
  • Strong customer service focus

U.S. Compensation Information 

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below). 


Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. For all other locations, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level


  • Annual discretionary performance bonus
  • This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
  • 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
